5-days Indrahara Chamba Trek

This trek starts from Mcleodganj and heads to the majestic pine canopy of Dharamkot and having a meal at the Magic View Café and then to the enchanting Triund meadows. The second day comprises of trek from Triund to picturesque Laka Glacier to the ancient Lahesh Caves. And then continue the third, fourth and fifth day moving from the caves to the Indrahara Pass and then to the Kuwarsit and Hilling village of the Chamba Valley. The views are some of the best that Himachal has to offer and leaves you feeling refreshed and energised.

ITINERARY

1

Day 1

The trek starts from the beautiful and small village of Mcleodganj and one move towards Dharamkot. Taking a shortstop in the calm and peaceful environment of the place, we move forward to reach the Gallu temple- sacred and architectural masterpiece. The picturesque views around the temple are worth being captured. Put up your legs, rest for a bit and then a meal at Magic View Café before making a rough climb to the enchanting destination of Triund. Camp at meadows of Triund with majestic views of Dhauladhar range and Kangra Valley and enjoy the thrill of Himalayan wilderness.

Day 2

Start the second day of the trek on a cheerful and happy note, waking up to a wonderful breakfast and calming scenery of the Triund meadows. After getting ready, we cover a short uphill climb to reach the beautiful destination of Laka Glacier which is presently a temporary camp for local shepherds. The glacier is located at the mouth of a smaller glacier. After having taken enough snaps of the beautiful glacier one should make their way further up to reach the ancient and beautiful Lahesh Caves. After exploring the travellers return to the Laka Glacier camp for the night’s rest.

Day 3

The third day is quite adventurous and the travel starts from Lahesh caves to the Chatta Parao which is a journey of approximately 12 km surrounded by eye-catching scenery. We start our journey early to achieve the long and tiresome climb to the top of the Indrahar pass. The journey will be worth it when we finally make it to the top and experience the amazing and exotic overview of the pass. Observe the peaks of Pir-Panjal and the Manimahesh Kailash. After a short photography session and gazing at the enchanting views we start descending to Chatta Parao to avoid the wrath of the unpredictable climate.

Day 4

The fourth day starts moving from Chatta Parao making one’s way through few snow bridges and finally entering the Kuarsi Valley. The long walk is worth due to the beautiful accompanying sceneries and views. One should make themselves rested for the day after reaching Kuarsi Village which is actually the first village of the Chamba Valley encountered after making one’s way through the pass. With the growing technologies and improved cultures, this village still holds the essence of traditional values and ancient customs. One will enjoy a delicious dinner at the village and a thrilling camp night.

Day 5

Start the final day with a satisfying breakfast and morning tea. We grab our bags and start descending to reach Lambu. Catching a local bus, we reach Chamba from Lambu. Move to the last destination of the Hilling Village and we end our journey and return home with memories made.
